Participation at a yodelingfest in Huttwil, Switzerland in the summer of 2007 resulted in the duo Polkabjörn & Kleine Heine. Polkabjörn is probably the only one in the world who as yodled for the King and Queen and the minister of foreign affairs, Jonas Gahr Störe, at the same time (the opening of Festspillene in Bergen, 2008). Polkabjörn isn’t only Northern Europe’s best yodeler but has also become a decent throat singer after having apprenticed with the world- renowned throat-song quartet Huun-Huun-Tu. Kleine Heine, the jazzmusician Ola Kvernberg’s former sidekick, was already at the age of 14 an established jazzmusician, and is now studying at the Griegacademy in Bergen. The third member of the duo, tenor and mandolinplayer Hallvarvals, is studying at the Royal Danish Operaacademy in Copenhagen. Their material is varied and consists of yodelig from Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Norway. Despite rumours of conflicts within the group, the duo claims that they're fit for fight. Polkabjörn and Kleine Heine is a duo you can’t be mentally prepared for. And at G! Festival they strike when you least expect it.
